Preschool weeks 8 and 9

C is 42 months old
We have combined the last two week into one post. Last week we all had yucky colds so we did not get a lot accomplished but this week we have felt much better and we actually managed to get a few lessons completed. We have been working on the letter P for pumpkin. We have also worked on the Bible Story of Adam and Eve. On thing that we are going to do this weekend is Read the Pumpkin Patch Parable and talk about how the farmer got all of the yucky stuff out of the pumpkin and then put a light in it to shine and how God dose this to us when when trust Him. When we have faith in Him he will take out all of our yucky stuff and then we can be a light that shines for Him. We are going to make a pumpkin to go along with the story so I will try to post pictures of this on Sunday.

A friend gave the boys pails that they could decorate for their treats on Halloween. They had a lot of fun picking out the stickers and making the faces on the buckets. They were so cute that I used them later in the week for table decorations for a party we had.

We worked on building fine motor skills by tearing paper to decorate a pumpkin then we took some black paper and turned it into a jack-o-lantern. This was very good for C's fine motor skills plus it makes a cute Halloween decoration.

Then C fingerpainted a pumpkin. He loved this activity a lot!!

Then we talked about the letter Pp and the sound it makes. C then brainstormed some p words and then glued popcorn to a p on a pumpkin. He also enjoyed eating the popcorn!!

We spent some time playing with Mr. Potato Head. C got really creative with all of the heads that he made. They were so neat!!

We made Halloween cookies. A lot of them were pumpkin shape and C decorated them to look like Jack-O-Lanterns. They were yummy too!!

C punched holes and laced a pumpkin and then cut his own shapes out to decorate it!!

C cut out his won pumpkin shape and then cut eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Then he put yellow tissue paper behind it and when we put it in the window it looks just like it is lit up.

TOT-School Week 7

Tot School

B is 18 months old

This week we did a little work with the letter Bb. We read many stories about bears and we worked on color recognition. We also read the story Stellaluna and made a bat with B's handprints. Our Bible story was Adam and Eve.

B made a teddy bear headband. He wore it almost the entire week. He loved looking at himself in the mirror with it on.

B enjoyed playing with the color matching cards from Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You see?. This was an Elmer's game that we got at Barnes and Nobel.

B used dot painters to paint the letter B blue.

B laced a teddy bear. I had to hold it for him most of the time but he did a great job putting the string in and pulling it all the way through. Then he glued on eyes and a nose.

After reading Stellaluna B made a bat using his handprint that we traced on black paper. He liked flying it around when he finshed it.

After reading A Pocket for Corduroy B made a Corduroy and then he put several pockets on it.

B made a bear out of the letter B. He really enjoyed using the glue on this project.

B also loved watching this Bear in the Big Blue House Video about shapes and colors.

Preschool Week 7

<

C is 42 months old

It took us a little time this week to get back into the routein after being on vacation last week. Our focus this week was the letter B for bear and bat. We read many great bear books and did several bear activites. Our Bible story this week and next week is Adam and Eve. We read the story from several preschool Bibles and then nest week we will do some activities to go along with the story.

He made a bear head band that he has worn just about the entire week. He loves it and he likes to chase his brother and roar like a bear.

C did a couple of worksheets this week involving the bear theme. One was cutting and pasting pictures that begin with the b sound and the other one was tracing numbers 1-10 on the bears bellys. I don't really like worksheets but he seems to enjoy them and asks for them.

C had a great time working some of the Elmer puzzles. One was the number match and the other one was the color match. This involved the animals from Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You See by Eric Carle. He really enjoyed working with these two items.

After Reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? C sorted M&M's by colors on this sheet with the animals. This was one of his favorite activities since he got to eat them when he was finished.

C did a Bb tracing sheet from starfall.com.

C made a bear out of the letter B. It turned out really cute. It ended up being a lot of cutting for him. So I cut the B out for him. He says his bear is dancing.

After reading a Pocket for Corduroy C made a little Corduroy bear and put on pocket on him. He wanted a red circle pocket on his bear.

After reading Stellaluna C made a bat using his handprints. He said he liked this so much that he wanted to make bunches and bunches of bats.

He enjoyed watching a Bear in the Big Blue House video about shapes and colors this week.

Here are some of the books that we read this week!

We really had a great week and hope to follow it up with a wonderful fall weekend.
