Tot-School Week 3

B is 17 months old

This week was a short week for us. On Monday we celebrated Labor Day and Daddy was home all day so we did not get a lot done. On Tuesday we had several friends over for a water playdate. We had tons of fun enjoying one of the last warm days of summer.

We made a little I love you banner for the Grandparents this week. We hope to see them all on Sunday and give them their little gift. I found this idea here.





B is my little athlete. He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES balls--any kind of balls. He will throw or kick a ball with me for more than 30 minutes at a time. He would do it all day if he could. He actually throws pretty well for a 17 month old and this week he has gotten to where he can catch the big Thomas ball when you throw it to him.





On Tuesday we had several friends over for a water playdate. It was a nice warm day and the kids all had a blast!! It was a great way to slowly end summer.

B has become a huge Thomas the Train fan over the last seveal weeks. This week he has carried around and looked at an old Thomas and Friends catalog. He loves it!!


B has played a lot this week with a Nursery Rhyme interactive books that sings the rhymes to him. This is the first time he has shown much interest in it.



B has this spider that lights up and sings and has numbers, shapes and colors on it as well as different animals. We spent some time working on the colors and shapes as well as singing the counting songs.



B also did some dot painting with the color orange. We then went through the house and picked out orange things.



B also worked on the number 5 for his number book. He painted his five and then put five stickers on it.



On Saturday we visited the Blue Ridge Parkway and we got to meet Curious George and Reader Roo. We also got to listen to a story read by a park ranger and hike a cool trail.



We had a really great week! I hate to see summer end but I love the cool crisp mornings of fall and I am looking forward to doing some apple activities next week.

Preschool Week 2

C is 41 months old

This week our theme was beach/fish. We worked on the color green and the numbers 3 and 4. Our Bible story is still on Creation and we learned that everything God made is beautiful and good. C worked on days 4 and 5 in his Creation book. Both boys were sick at the beginning of the week so we did not get as much accomplished as I had hoped but we still had a great week!

Our bible Study this week is still on creation. C spent time working on pages 4 and 5. For page 4 we cut out a moon "cresent shape" that is what C told me. He glued it on then added star stickers and then cut out a circle for the moon and tore rays out of orange paper. For page 5 he colored an ocean at the bottom and then took cookie cutters and paint to put sea creatures in the ocean. He chose an octopus and a seahorse. For the things in the sky he chose and owl and a bird.



GREEN

This week we were reviewing the color green so we made green Jell-O jigglers. Our theme this week was beach/fish so we made green fish jigglers. C also had to make green dinosaur jigglers too!!


C also finger painted with Green fingerpaint. He made a " rainbow, tree and flowers"

We read the Rainbow fish this week and C made a fish out of a coffee filter. He colored it with washable markers then sprayed water on it so the colors would bleed together. After it was dry I cut out a fish shape and he decorated it with a wiggle eye and then he cut pieces of tin foil to make "scales". It turned out very cute!!


Our letter this week was F. C stamped fish on Ff and he also glued feathers on Ff.He traced the letter Ff sheet that we got from starfall.com.

Working with numbers


C worked on painting his nubmers 3 and 4 for his number and then he added the correct number of stickers to match the numbers.
We read these two books from Scholastic about the numbers 3 and 4.


C made an octopus using cheerios. He counted out and glued the correct number of cheerios onto the octopus legs to match the number that was on the leg.


C had fun this week drawing and writing on his aqua doodle mat. After he played and explored for awhile I got him to practice making shapes and writing the letters in his name.

Since the boys were a little sick this week we did not get everything done that I had hoped to do but that's ok--I figure there is always next week.

Tot-School week 2

B is 17 months old and C is 41 months old.

Our second week of Tot-School did not go as I had envisioned. Both boys were sick at the beginning of the week so we did not get everything accomplished that I wanted to. We still had a fun week and by the end of the week the boys were back to themselves so we did get in quite a bit of Tot-school.



B has enjoyed reading books in the morning while I get his breakfast ready. He is really into Thomas the Train right now.


This week we worked on the color green. B enjoyed eating green Jello Jigglers. We cut them into fish shapes to go along with his brother's preschool unit for the week.



He also enjoyed fingerpainting with green.
B had a lot of fun playing with his magna doodle this week. He liked stamping the shapes on it and just "drawing".





This week we read the Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister and then B made his own rainbow fish. He colored a coffee filter with washable markeres then we sprayed water on it and when it was dry I cut out a fish shape and gave him an eye and some small pieces of foil to glue on the fish. He really liked making the fish and he love the foil.



This week B painted the numbers 3 and 4 and then added the correct number of stickers to match the number. He again chose to add Thomas the Train stickers.



B worked on fine motor skills by sticking star stickers to a piece of paper. He actually sat and did this for about 15 minutes.



B climbed up in his brother's bed and just sat there reading several books. He looked so grown up!



We worked on B's shape puzzle and then he played a lot with his hide away toy. He had to push or click the buttons to make the animals appear. Then push them down to hide them. We did a lot of counting and he also worked on recognizing animals and this was also great for his fine motor skills.

We did not get to do all the things that I wanted to do this week but we still had a great week!
