TOT-School Weeks 21 and 22 Jan, 18-29

Tot School

B is 22 months old

We got to have some fun in some real snow too.

We made snowball no bake cookies and the both boys had so much fun making and eating them. You can go here to get the recipe.

B spent some time playing with the Lincoln Logs that he got for Christmas. He likes to play with the two little men that came with the set.

B made a snowman using marshmallows. I drew the snowman outline and then we worked together to outline it in glue. Then B took Marshmallows to put them in the glue. The we used items from our scrap box to decorate him. I love how B tore the paper to make the hat and then tore scraps to decorate it.

B spent a great deal of time one evening putting cotton balls "snowballs" into toilet paper rolls. He loved this activity and we will be getting it out again for sure.

He us dab-a-dot painters to paint the circles on the snowman. This is a magnet page from Making Learning Fun. This is great for fine motor control and one on one correspondence. He did pretty good with this after he figured out how to hold the dab-a-dot painter up in a straight position.

We worked on the letter S for snow and B glued punched snowmen onto an upper and lower case S. He just loves the snow and anything we do involving snowmen.

B really got into reading this past week. He would pull books off the shelf and sit and look at them for a long time. He also pulled out his Tag Jr several times and used it to read. He loves his Tag jr Curious George colors book.

B worked several of his puzzles. He is getting very good at working them and he is beginning to recognize the shapes. His favorite shape right now is a diamond.

We have had a couple of great weeks! We hope to do some more winter activities this week. We wil be reading some Jan Brett books like The Hat and The Mitten.

Preschool Week 21 snow/winter

We had a great busy week. We had a lot of things going on. One thing that we did not get a picture of was Play and Learn where we go to a local school for fun and literacy activities. It is a great program. Our Bible verse this week was again Wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7 We did our daily devotions and worked on the Bible story about Paul going to Phillipi.

C just finished his first semester at The Little Gym. On Monday he had his big show and a lot of family members attended and he just thought he was the stuff. He LOVES The Little Gym.

C put the snowmaen cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler in order from 1-10 and then he counted out mini marshmallows to match the number on each card. He is great with 1-10. Now we will start with 10-20.

C matched snowflake cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler. He did this several times and then we played memory with the cards.

C used dab-a-dot painters to make the letter s from Making learning fun.

C is very interested in words right now so we began working on sight words this week. We worked on the word go and he did some rainbow writing of the word and then dictated a sentence to me with the word go in it. We printed the word go from Making Learning Fun! I wrote the sentence at the bottom of the page but left a blank space for the word go and he wrote it in. He then looked through several books for the word go.

We folded and cut tortillas like snowflakes and then fried them with a little oil and put pawdered sugar on them. Charlie loved them--he said, "These are so yummy!!"

C got to sing and play the handbells at church this week. His teamkids class did the music for the Wednesday night service. I was very proud of him. He did a great job on stage.

I ended up working today at our Church preschool so we did not get any of todays activities done but that is ok we will work on them next week. Our theme will again be winter and snow and we may throw in some Jan Brett books too. I hope to be a little more organized next week and get a little more done!

TOT-School Week 11

Tot School

B is 19 months old

We finally got back into the school groove this week after a couple of off weeks. This week we did a little work with the letter Ss and just getting B to say new words. He has been a little slow to talk. Our Bible Story this week was Ruth and Naomi. We also spent a lot of time reading several Corduroy Board Books.

B turned the number 8 into a spider. We added 8 1/2 pipe cleaners for legs and wiggle eyes for the eyes and then he decorated it with sequins.

B put foil star stickers on an upper case and a lower case Ss.

B turned an S into a snake and decorated it with glitter foam shapes. We talked a lot about the colors and shapes of the foam pieces.

B laced a leaf. He really did a good job holding it by himself and lacing it.

We made squirrel headbands and we put coffee grounds on the tail to make it look fluffy!

He also played a lot with his telephone. He loves pushing the buttons!

B worked with his shape sorter.

B made a squirrel by painting glue on a squirrel shape and then covering it with coffee gounds. He loved the feel of the grounds. Then he added a wiggle eye.

B spent a lot of time playing with his Fisher Price Farm. He loves to make the animal sounds.

B made a spider web using a black paper plate and white yarn. He weaved the yarn around the paper plate that I had cut slits in. Then he took foam spiders and added them to the web. S for spide.

B made a fall tree. We painted his hand and arm for the tree trunk and branches and then he make fingerprints for the leaves in red, orange, and yellow.
